there are lots of interesting topics on here that appeal to me.. i have been a witness for almost 3 decades and am very disillusioned with the organisation at this time.

Ridiculous ways you kept your "time going" in service?
by HereIgo ini used to go out early mornings with 2 pioneer elders, we would drive 20 miles out of the territory (a big no-no) to look for hikers to preach to lol of course there were never any hikers.
then off to starbucks for another hour lol easy way to count 2-4 hours.
i am chuckling as i write this, what a joke!.

a few years later--i moved to a different kingdom shack---a rented dump shared with another congregashun. but this was purely to get away from my overbearing parents and be with my girlfriend. i started pioneering again.
time always started from the first door knocked--then travel to the group meeting place--coffee and biscuits--natter--days text--about an hour. then knock a few doors. mostly not home or lonely old people.
the slightest hint of rain--then it was off to a snooker hall ( a bit like pool )---or--even better--a ten pin bowling alley. dirt cheap on weekday daytimes. got quite good at it.
either way--it was an 8 hour door knocking day.
i developed a fair sized magazine route--back in those days pioneers paid 1/4 of the price for the rags--so made a good profit out of them. paid for my petrol.
did that for 3 years all told. what a waste of a young life.

lets see
me= young pioneer in my mid teens--cleaning windows 3 days a week.
service days--on the way to meet my pioneer partner--knock a nearby door where i knew no-one was home--leave a tract. catch a bus to our regular coffee bar.
we spent hours in there--the greek cypriot owner gave us free coffee to keep us there to make the place look a bit less empty. in return we found a way to cheat the pin ball machine to get free games. got very good at it. fiddling service hours is nothing new.

What's The First "Worldly" Thing You Did When You Exited The Cult?
by pale.emperor inwhen you finally and officially exited the cult, whether it be by disfellowshipping, disassociating or fading - what was the first things you did that are considered "worldly"?.
for me, it was like crash landing on another planet that looked like earth but was completely different to the earth i knew.
i wanted to learn everything that i thought i already knew.. first things i did:.

Counting time
by Emma ini may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.

dont know why the cult dont just simply abolish counting time. it proves nothing.

i recall a while back--on here--i got into a bit of a row about what i said about certain words that dont seem right to me.
"gay marriage" was one of them. it was suggested i was homophobic--far from it. its just the words and phrases that dont seem right.
another example. when one partner in a gay marriage refers to his partner as " my husband ". does that imply he regards himself as the wife in the relationship ?

What Happens to Adam and Eve?
by Cold Steel inin jw theology, what happens to adam and eve?
are they resurrected and become heirs to paradise on earth?
or will they become two of the heavenly class?
-
stan livedeath
ok ok--enough about adamneve already....
now--what about the snake ? i reckon it played a big part in human history--so--it deserves a resurrection.
the big question is--will it grow its legs back ? how many did it have ? 2 or 4 ?
i think a talking snake standing on 2 legs would be pretty cool. i would pay good money for it.

Using the term "Watchtower" when talking to a JW
by Sanchy inhas anyone else noticed how alarm bells go off inside a jw mind as soon as they hear someone that "is out" refer to the leaders of this org as "watchtower"?
i've chatted with a few friends now about my doubts and each and every time i've started using phrases such as "watchtower said this" or "watchtower did that", i can almost see their heads about to explode in anger, as if they've just realized they are talking to the lucifer himself.
some have even interrupted and corrected me by reminding me that it's not "watchtower", it's "god's organization".

i prefer to say "the watchtower cult".
i think it shows where i stand.
